An inflammation of one or multiple joints is called arthritis. There are more than hundred types of arthritis but the two most common types of arthritis are rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.

Symptoms of arthritis may include stiffness, reduced range of motion, joint pain, swelling and redness of the skin around the joint. Those suffering from rheumatoid arthritis may also experience a slight fever, loss of appetite, tiredness and anaemia.

The tissue that connects joints is called cartilage. Its job is to protect the joints by absorbing shock and pressure due to movement. The cartilage gradually reduces due to daily wear and tear and this results in osteoarthritis.

Generally, people above the age of 65 suffer from arthritis but sometimes it occurs in younger people too. Overweight people and women are more prone to arthritis.

If you are experiencing joint pain, it is necessary to get a rheumatoid arthritis factor test. This helps determine whether you have osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis.
